COVID-19 Update
Distance Learning- Chorus
March 15, 2020
Hello Chorus!
In light of recent COVID-19 health concerns, our class will be moving to distance instruction for the next 4 weeks. In these strange and challenging times, my main goal is to help everyone stay safe and healthy while still offering the best education possible.
With that goal in mind, I also understand the obstacles in our way:
-household internet is not universal in our district
-parents/guardians may not be home to help with online learning
-older siblings may need to care for younger siblings all day
-there may not be a quiet place to practice singing
-other classes may require numerous hours of weekly work
I ask that you practice your chorus and solo music twice a week for 20min at a time. When we return we will be quickly preparing for the Spring Concerts and your frequent practice will ensure success! I’ve also made a list of strongly encouraged classwork for everyone and a list of optional classwork that will count for your participation grade and for extra credit. All information about materials and resources are included on the next pages.
Music unites us, especially in times of uncertainty and struggle. Many of us will miss the unity and joy that comes from singing with a group. My advice to you is to embrace music however you can right now: listen to your favorite songs, try out new songs, write a song, make a silly tik tok with music, notice music in movies and videogames, and find time to make music yourself, even if it’s just in the shower.
I do not have a family of my own here in NY, but consider you all my Red Creek family. I will miss you all dearly over the next four weeks and wish you health & happiness.
Musically yours,
-Ms. White
